What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is one of the most tried true ways for bloggers and other online businesses make a supplemental income. Affiliate marketing is the practice of selling someone else's services and/or products for commission of the sale.Out of all the methods to make money online, affiliate marketing is on top of everyone's list.

The affiliate marketing process is when a person signs up to promote a product and/or service. After signing up, the affiliate has to wait for approval from the company in order to start promoting on their website. After approval, the affiliate will navigate their dashboard to find their affiliate links. These links have a special code that's assigned to that specific person embedded to help identify them when a sale is made. The affiliate will then take these links and promote the product and/or service on their social media, website, email list, etc.

When a person clicks on this link, it will take them directly to that product and/or service. If they become interested or convinced that this product/service will benefit them, they will make a purchase. Because that purchase was made using your link, you get a commission of that sale which is known as a conversion. For example, say you decide to promote your favorite toothpaste and you find out there is a bundle sale for only $5. You promote that sale using your links and someone buys it using your link. If the percentage is 50%, you just made $2.50. If 10 people purchase that toothpaste bundle using your link, you will make $25. When 50 people purchase the bundle using your link, that's a total of $125.

Now you see why bloggers and online marketers love affiliate marketing? All you do is figure out what company you'd like to promote, get accepted into the program, locate your affiliate links, create a marketing strategy, implement it into your website and social media and promote to your audience.
